Trump Invites Relatives of Shot Military Personnel to White House
President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.
He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Devastating Event
US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.
Presidential Invitation
The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Support
Community members assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to support policing efforts in Washington DC.
Honoring Beckstrom
“She was the individual that teachers wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the press. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”
Memorial plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Legal Steps and Government Revisions
Officials have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The tragedy caused the administration to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
The airman, a native of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey mentioned on television.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on the program that she aimed to meet with his relatives.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with honor, according to the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” he informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
