Arsenal's manager feels assured that his side can continue to cope with player absences after disclosing that star striker Kai Havertz will not return for several more weeks.

Extended Absence for Havertz

Havertz has been sidelined for months after undergoing knee surgery. Originally slated to come back sooner, the manager stated the player hit a snag when stepping up his training and failed to reach “to the next level.”

“Our experience helped us build a team that is much more reliable and has increased versatility,” Arteta said.

Selection Dilemma for Brentford Clash

This update presents a tactical puzzle for the midweek match against Brentford. A decision is required between continuing to use Mikel Merino, who got a goal playing out of position last weekend, or bringing back Viktor Gyökeres, who made a return from a muscle injury as a substitute. Questioned if a larger pool of players was aiding their championship push, the manager agreed. “Absolutely, because this season has been worse in the attacking line, and now the problems with the defence,” he noted.

“Our previous experiences taught us that we have to use players in alternative spots, and they must be capable to adapt to new tasks if we are to fight at the highest level. And the case of Mikel is just the best one.”

Manager’s Sympathy for Frustrated Havertz

Commenting on the delay highlighted by Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta provided further detail. “He was doing everything. He was unable to progress to the subsequent stage and now it appears like we have overcome that hurdle.”

Arteta expressed his keenness to have him back. “The team is keen to have him. Truly, Havertz is someone that, in my view, I love so much for the qualities he offers to the team, but his character, his personality. I see him suffer while sidelined.”
