Martínez Double Keeps Inter Milan on Tail of Leaders
Inter forward Lautaro Martínez scored a second-half double to secure his team a 2-0 win at Pisa, keeping the visitors very much involved in the Serie A title race in spite of a somewhat shaky performance.

Led by manager Cristian Chivu, Inter currently sit in third position in the standings with 27 points total, level with second-placed Roma and only one point behind leaders Milan. Meanwhile, Pisa occupy the third bottom spot with 10 points.

Inter traveled in Tuscany looking to return to winning ways after enduring a loss to rivals by Milan last weekend, which was followed by a Champions League defeat at Atlético Madrid. However, they were made to battle throughout by newly-promoted Pisa. The home team generated numerous chances, but a clinical Inter scored the opener in the 69th minute mark when Argentine Martínez drilled a one-time shot into the top of the net. The attacker then tapped in from point-blank with seven minutes remaining.
The team’s capacity to score despite difficult circumstances proved decisive in securing the victory.

In Spain, Real Sociedad staged a dramatic comeback from 2-0 down to equalize at home against Villarreal, only to succumb to a late strike five minutes into added time. Villarreal’s goals came from Ayoze Pérez shortly after the half-hour mark and Alberto Moleiro in the 57th minute, but Carlos Soler quickly reduced the deficit and Ander Barrenetxea leveled the score three minutes from time. However, Moleiro had the last word deep into added time.
In the late La Liga match, Real Madrid travel to Girona needing a victory to go back to the top ahead of Barcelona, who secured a 3-1 triumph over Alavés on Saturday.
