Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
