Football Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, however will the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," stated soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer side," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four matches.

My son told me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at home. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

They have got plenty of quality in their team but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to continue opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a good result, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
